Lazy Keto (now Keto Kit) — 4M+ Downloads on iOS & Android
Overview
Built the Lazy Keto Recipe App on Android and iOS — a keto diet companion with recipes, meal planning, and macro tracking. The app grew to 4M+ combined downloads across both platforms and a 4.5★ rating on Google Play. It has since evolved into Keto Kit with AI-powered meal scanning.
The Challenge
The client needed a well-designed, fast, and reliable keto diet app that could compete in a crowded health and fitness market. The app needed recipe browsing, macro tracking, and a meal planner — all designed for users who were new to the ketogenic diet and needed clear, accessible guidance.
What We Built
We built the Android and iOS apps from scratch with a clean recipe database, category filtering, keto-specific macro calculations, meal planning flows, and a favourites system. The app was architected for high content volume — thousands of recipes — while keeping load times fast. Google Ads and Firebase Analytics integration enabled data-driven content decisions.
Results
The app reached 500K+ downloads on Android within the first phase, and with the iOS release, combined downloads grew to 4M+. The app maintained a 4.5★ rating with 7K+ reviews on Google Play. The platform later evolved into Keto Kit with AI meal scanning, building on the foundation we delivered.

Questions & Answers
Did you build the current Keto Kit app?
We built the original Lazy Keto app — the foundation that grew to 4M+ downloads. The app has since rebranded to Keto Kit with new AI features added by the client. Our work established the core architecture, recipe database, and macro tracking system that the current product builds on.
How did the app reach 4M downloads?
Organic App Store and Play Store discovery drove the bulk of growth, supported by Google Ads targeting keto-related searches. We integrated Firebase Analytics from day one, which gave the client visibility into which recipe categories converted best — enabling data-driven marketing decisions.
Can you build a similar health and fitness app?
Yes. Consumer health apps with recipe systems, macro tracking, and subscription monetisation are something we've done. Flutter is now our preferred approach for health apps that need to ship to both iOS and Android simultaneously, fast.
